A classic terroir rosé full of character, Château d’Aqueria’s Tavel is produced from red and white grapes which are grown on extremely fine sandy soils.

Château d’Aqueria’s sandy soils are perfect for producing great rosés with exceptional balance between freshness and maturity. Its complexity comes from a blend of six varieties of red and white grapes. Grenache Noir, Syrah and Mourvèdre give exceptional colour and tannic structure whilst Clairette, Bourboulenc and Cinsault complete the blend beautifully bringing a generous variety of aromas and a fresh finish.

Light sandy, clay soils situated around the Château.

Grape Varieties

50% Grenache Noir, 20% Syrah, 10% Clairette, 10% Mourvèdre, 5% Bourboulenc, 5% Cinsault.

Average age of the vines

40 years old with some 70 year old plots.

Yield

38 Hl/Ha.

Ageing

6 months in inox and concrete vats.

Vinification

The grapes are meticulously destemmed and cooled before vatting. Then they are blended in pairs during 12-24 hours maceration to enhance the aromatic complexity. Once the perfect colour is obtained, the vat is bled and the pomace undergoes a slow pressing before being incorporated with the free-run juice. Following that, fermentation takes place in thermoregulated vats for 15 days.

Tasting notes

Eye: Intense ruby colour with shiny hints.

Nose: Complex and elegant with spicy, fruity notes (raspberries, strawberries, pomegranate).

Mouth: Elegant and firm structure with expressive fruit and spice. Long finish with remarkable freshness bringing a lovely balance to the wine.

Serving temperature

12 - 14°C.

Food pairing

Red snapper with tapenade, bouillabaisse, monkfish, coconut chicken, grilled lamb with herbes de Provence, scallops.

Ageing potential

Drink now or lay down for 1-3 years for increased complexity.
